I had a researcher from a national radio programme (won’t say which, although very tempted!) ring me up this morning to see if I’d do a segment about advertising slogans.

He was particularly intrigued, he said, to discover that vorsprung durch technik translates as “text will go here”.

To be fair, I should have broken it to him a bit more gently that I did…

Fondle free only in that they stopped charging people to be fondled by them.

In the 1930’s a lowly studio worker came up with the slogan “There’s no business like this business”

It failed spectacularly

My suggestion to the Catholic Church “Fondle-Free since 2003″ was similarly rejected
