Berlin (1973)

Not only the title track from Reed’s best solo album – check out The Kids, one of the most heartbreaking songs you’ll ever hear – but also the name of the city I’ll be in by the time any of you suckers read this.

There’s a really freaky/disturbing fact about the latter track after the jump. The kids heard wailing for their mother from 5:17 onwards were the children of producer Bob Ezrin. He felt the track needed crying children, so he told them their mother was dead and recorded their reaction. She was actually fine.

File under: It was the Seventies, maaaan.
