“Two hundred fifty euro per month my son in Krakow earn, yes? First month in Buncrana is two thousand euro.” Like practically everyone we meet in Poland, Boguslaw has family working in Ireland. His new grandson is even an Irish citizen. “Of course, Donegal very beautiful. Atlantic Ocean very beautiful. But Spire of Dublin? 3. Ponyo Says:

Jammy bastard, I couldnt get a job there. Though in fairness he’s probably lost it now, turned back to a ghost town. High suicide rate! alcoholism! Car crashes! No jobs! High number of genetic abnormalities! Pish internet! Donegal Donegal Donegal!

  4. Deirdre Says:

You are one insufferable, temperamental ******* Eoin Butler/Ponyo.

But you do have a very, very kind heart, underneath it all.

The thing I like most about this is the way the Polish taxi driver speaks English. I love the way foreigners speak English but I think it’s probably hard to capture properly, at least without it coming across as a caricature.
However, merely in the interest of always being ctritical, I have to ask – how many times have you reposted this?

  6. Eoin Says:

@ Adam – maybe three or four times in last two years. I’ll tell you tho, from now on I’ll post only brand new and original 4,000 word features every day for free, Adam. That sound fair? I’ll make it interactive too. Want me to infiltrate the Sicilian mafia Adam? Tick the red button etc.

  7. Adam Says:

    That’d be great. Thanks.

  8. Eoin Says:

    Okay, off to Sicily now.

  9. emordino Says:

That is an absolutely superb piece of writing. Hats off.

  10. Eoin Says:

    Thank you Emordino!
