George Costanza’s Greatest Hits
1. “The Sea Was Angry That Day, My Friends” monologue (The Marine Biologist)
Jerry has set George up on a date. Since George is unemployed, Jerry (for some reason) has pretended that his friend is a marine biologist. During the date, George and his new love interest happen upon a beached whale. Earlier in the same episode, Kramer practices his drive by firing golf balls into the sea. Read the rest of this entry »

“I’ve got a flash for you, joyboy… Party time is over!”
I’ve got all nine series of Seinfeld on DVD. (In fact, I’m pretty sure they’re only DVDs I own.) One of my favourite scenes of the entire run is this exquisitely scripted exchange between Jerry Seinfeld and the hard-nosed library investigations officer, Mr Bookman.

THE LIBRARY (1991)
There were nine seasons of Seinfeld. I’ve got almost all of them on DVD. (They’re only DVDs I own, I’m pretty sure.) One of my favourite scenes from the entire run is this exquisitely scripted exchange between Jerry Seinfeld and the hard-nosed library investigations officer, Mr Bookman.
The scene was written by Larry Charles – who went on to direct Curb Your Enthusiasm, Borat and Bruno, amongst other things. He got the idea from watching reruns of the 1960s cop show Dragnet, and imagining how life would be if people actually conducted themselves in the manner of (the fictional) Sergent Joe Friday Read the rest of this entry »
