I’d just “accidentally” run over the dog if I was the Dad.
Mourning a pet is supposedly to be very benefitial for a child, in terms of learning to cope with berevement in later life.
Realising that your parents are lying bastards is another important life lesson you don’t want to miss.

accidents do happen…ah no, happened me and me sister before except in reverse. spent the weekend with my dad and he got us 2 pups and when we went home to my mom she was thinking how can do take care of three girls and 2 pups! so alas they went to a better home to train to become dogs for the blind actually.
