HOW I SPEND MY SATURDAYS

butty1
I thought this was kind of funny… Earlier this afternoon, I was asked to go in to the Irish Times to film some sort of promotional thing for the Saturday magazine. I think they’re relaunching it or something. Anyway they wanted to get some of the writers to do a piece to camera. So I went in and they put me sitting on this stool in front of a big screen and the girl goes, Now if you could just introduce yourself there, and describe how you spend your average Saturday, that’d be fantastic.

I said, my name is Eoin Butler and, ah… I had to think about it for a minute… Well, I said, on Saturday I’d generally get up and have a rasher and a slice of toast and a read of the newspapers. Then in the afternoon, if there’s football on, I suppose I might go the pub and watch it. And am… That’s about the height of it really, I’m afraid.

As I was leaving, I apologised that I hadn’t anything more exciting to say. The cameraman jumps in and goes, No, no, no, man that was deadly. You’re actually the first person we had in that didn’t talk about farmer’s markets!

Though the bread on that rasher sandwich looks a bit fancy… a little too fancy.

  2. Eoin Says:

Stock photo Colin, even the rashers there are fancier than I’d be having. But yeah, I think I’m the Sarah Palin of the Saturday magazine now.

  3. Paul Says:

Jeez. I would have said farmer’s market too. I hate myself just a little bit more, now. Thanks, Eoin.

  4. Matt Says:

I was at one of those once. Bought myself a pig farmer. And a grand little maneen he was too.

Now I feel so slagged, I did one of them pieces and I’m fairly sure I didn’t mention farmers’ markets although I did throw in a bit of second-hand shopping which is fairly typical in itself… morto.

Poppy seeds, eh? Ya big girl…

@ EK – the poppy seed issue was dealt with in comment #2
