Yeah, writing Bush’s speeches doesn’t exactly cover you in glory as a writer.
As for the Obama comment, there will be some behind the scenes backlash. It was off the record comments to CNBC crew and tweeted by ABC news crew. They share feeds on a fiber line.

Bush actually comes out well here imho. We already knew he was a moron, but here at least he’s a moron with a sense of humour.

Yeah, I suppose. His read on Palin was spot on and his suspicions about Obama might yet be vindicated.
