This week, I’ve been inveigled into writing on the topic ‘Food Memories of the 1980s’. It’s kind of a tall order, given that I was only a small boy during that decade. It was all a blur of penny sweets and Subbuteo as far as I can recall .

Go on, they said. There must be a few special Eighties food memories that stick out… Well, there was that time Duran Duran dropped by my house and we ate Rice Krispie Buns and played Space Invaders together.

Really, they gasped? No, of course not. Read the rest of this article here.

home and away wasnt misleading you, Eoin. I’d always save 30 minutes before roll cal to stop off at a juice bar to pick up a smoothie or a cheesiemite scroll, and if lucky maybe get in sneaky flirt with the boys from the catholic school down the road. All that was after an hour train ride just to get to school. I’ve never been into home and away, but you’ve got me thinking 1) it’s quite an uncanny reflection of my school days and 2) why was i so willing to lose sleep to catholic school boys and a smoothie?

Well, speaking as both a Catholic boy and a smoothie… Ah okay, that’s all I’ve got!
